Dendobium aberrans

Decided I might as well post a few images of my collection blooms. Here is D. aberrans:



This little fellow is in my tank under high light (1800+ foot-candles, and rather high humidity (90+). It gets water and fertilizer every time the pot feels light weight

I like your little fellow , what is the lowest amount of humidity it will do well in. I would like to get one but really can not do 90% at this time.

Joann, I think there may be a few growing this on a windowsill, but I am not sure. Due to it's location in nature (the jungles of Papua, New Guinea) I suspect it would not thrive outside a high humidity environment, but I haven't tried it.

Hi Joann, if you like this guy and don't mind hybrids, you might look into D. Aussie Chip. It's a cross between D. aberrans and D. atroviolaceum. It's a bit bigger than aberrans, with similarly-shaped but speckled flowers. Mine grows like a weed and blooms under lights with 50-60% average humidity.

Thanks for posting this beautiful well grown little species.

About hybrids, I have Den. Mini Snowflake (Den johnsoniae x aberrans) about twice this size but the flowers very similar, pure white, slightly fragrant, in bloom for at least four months in the Winter. One of the easiest orchids to bloom in the house with low humidity in the Winter.
