It is a compact dendrobium that has flowers like Den. aggregatum. The blooms are short-lived, lasting for a week around.

Steve,
Even in Taiwan, few people grow this one because there are so many similar looking dendrobiums we can choose. A close kin to this one, Dendrobium capilipes, seems to be grown by more people.

I think both sukhakulii and capilipes are the same species or at least sub-species. I grow my capilipes under intermediate condition and the pseudobulbs are the size of a finger. IF you grow warmer and higher light, the bulbs stay compact and fatter. In cooler condition the cane tend to be longer and slimmer.

I've just bought one so named from Spicesotic Plants here in the UK, but when I got it home I found that no plant so named is in the Kew World Checklist of Selected Plant Families ( World Checklist of Selected Plant Families: Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew), even as a synonym. I think wonderlen3000 has it right, so I'm relabelling it as D. capilipes. |
