Does anyone else has experience with FRAGRANT Den. kingianum hybrids that do not require starve and chill?
The first one is a small division of Den Yondi 'Angel' x Jamie Upton 'Goldie'. No starve and chill, temperature never gets below 60. I had it in water culture for 3 years to build up strength with ~120ppm Nitorgen all year, and does not get the best spot under the lights. I did not expect it to boom. It bloomed every January even put out flowers from the middle of the stem. The fragrance reminds me of linden flowers and I prefer it to kingianum's scent.
I have had the Den kingianum for years and it only produced 3-4 blooms with minimal chilling but no food a very little water from October on. This season the only difference in culture was putting it outside every day when temperatures were 31degrees F or above. Overall light was not as good as before. It is full of blooms. The fragrance wafts all over the house.
