Den. tetragonum gigantea
I have a regular variety that didn't bother to bloom for me the first 2 years that I've had it, but this year finally is starting to put out some buds (Hooray!)
In the mean time, I bought this gigantea last year and finally success!

Ooooh, that is so pretty. Reminds me of a cross between Odont. with Bulbo. How are these grown, Laura, typical Dend. culture?

These are awesome! Nice growing! I've had this on my wishlist since seeing that tetragonum in the sickle moon shaped pot. Can't remember who's it was....

Nice job Laura!!
Shannan's plant also got me hooked when it first bloomed over a year ago. I really want one of these, the blooms are so beautiful!

Laura very nice plant
just a question, how large are your plants?
I love this species, but am a bit confused: according to many references this species is considered as "mini to small", but according to the book "Dendrobium and its relative by Lavarack et al" the pseudobulbs goes from "up to 30 cm/12 inches" (var. melaleucaphyllum), "up to 40 cm/16 inches" (var. tetragonum), "up to 50 cm/19.5 inches" to (var. giganteum), "up o 60 cm/23.6 inches" (var. cacatua) , which put it more into the "medium size" species...

I just measured both of my plants and the one that I first got has the longest pseudobulb at a little over 1 inch. The one that I have labeled as gigantea has several bulbs slightly over 5 inches.
It could just be a mislabel on my plants... I don't think that I've ever seen a tetragonum as large as your reference has them, but then I am no expert on these!

Hi Sandy,
I grow these like 90% of my orchids in bright light and lots of water...
