I think this is a nobile type: Dendrobium Stardust "Fire Bird'. The little nubbins have finally turned to flowers. The entire plant is 4.5 inches tall.
So lovely!
I saw a similar one yesterday at an orchid show, and now I am mad that I didn't buy it!
Good growing!

Marilyn it's not exactly a nobile, but it gets grown the same way. Den. unicum accounts for 50% of it's parentage and that is very evident in the color, lip shape and veining. Nice growing! Is it fragrant?
Terri - It is not fragrant. I'm a little lost on the groups of Dendrobiums. I've heard hard cane, soft cane, nobile, deciduous. I know the nobiles are deciduous. But I guess you're saying that not all deciduous are nobile? Part of me cares. And the other part says: It's a pretty flower - get on with it!
You are cracking me up Marilyn "Get on with it." She says. Right. Understood. Dendros can make ya nuts. Besides being big and floofy, there are so many kinds! Now I have to go look on Orchidwiz and see what it says about Unicum. Carol
Marilyn that thing is gorgeous. Enjoy having it. Does not need a winter chill. Enjoys a good bit of light. Take it easy on feeding and watering during the winter. I have to go look at your picture again. I said I wouldn't get any more dendros. I did say that. Carol
Beautiful pics. I read the whole thread and felt happy.
First I thought those are kerkies .Bec I have never seen flowers appear from cane. This one is a miracle . Our dendrobiums appear as a stem with ten fifteen buds.
