Well...the first bud on my Den. Pixie Charm has actually gone ahead and opened! Last year (when I purchased it in-bud) all the buds were really fully developed before any of them opened. This time it seems it's going to be more sequential. Also, last year, the blooms were much much yellower, and had less reflexing of the petals and sepals. Its unicum parentage is REALLY dominating this time. Check the comparison below. First pic is the current bloom, second pic is from last March.

Very nice Yvan! I like the deeper colour on this year's flowers. Yours is a relatively small/ compact plant right? Its super nice!

Thanks, Cam! I don't not like the deeper orange (in fact orange flowers are my faves) but I did like the contrast between the yellow and the red veining in the lip. It is a very small plant indeed...the canes are not more than 6 or 7 inches tall.

Very cute Yvan! The flower might lighten up as it matures. It's definitely throwing more unicum this time around!

Terri, it may indeed already be lightening up some. It has definitely already relaxed that crazy unicum reflexing.

You know what, too? I think he got a lot more/brighter light since last blooming. Perhaps that has something to do with it.

Cool Nubbin update

I've seen a tremendous amount of growth in my little nubbins over the past few days and thought I'd post a few updated pics. I'm so excited because this is the first orchid I've ever been able to get to bloom!
