Cold Tolerance
This is a picture of a Nobile (Yamomoto) Hybrid that was subjected intentionally to 26F for several hours to determine how well, if at all, it would take the extreme cold. As you can see, four days later, it went through the cold weather and survived with impunity. The bird bath a few feet away had about 3/8 " of ice.
Every winter here in Central Florida we get temperatures three or four times that are in the low thirties or below freezing. I grow some varieties outdoors like Nobile Dendrobiums, Laelia Anceps, Epidendrum Radicans to name a few. Taking them in for just one day can become a pain so I have proven to myself now that they can be left outdoors without harm.
