Nice work Steve. How big is the plant overall, without spikes?
|
Chris, the plant itself is approximately thirty inches wide and maybe around twenty inches tall. I guess pedunculatum can only be considered a "dwarf" when it's compared to its larger-growing relatives. It's an easy going plant, though. I think you could probably beat it with a stick and it would still do just fine. :-)

Steve, sorry I haven't replied earlier. Thats right, you haven't abused it enough. These plants flower best if the foliage is slightly yellow. Everyone tries to have a lovely green healthy looking plant which they do but never get the proportionate flowering to plant size. Noting that these plants only flower off second year canes, they need heaps of light just short of burning. Then you will get the flowers.

Thanks, Roy. This summer when all of the plants go outdoors I'll move the speciosum away from the other orchids and closer to the cacti.

Oh Bugger!:_(
Beautiful plant but too big for me. I'm trying to reduce the overall size of my orchids so I can fit more in! |
