Default Dend. atroviolaceum

This is (probably) one of my favorite Dends. All the Latourias are my first choice in Dends but the atroviolaceum, my absolute, favorite-est. I waited over a month for the vendor to finally get it out to me...excuses, excuses. It was beginning to bud when I received it so, I can't take any credit here but wanted to share these gorgeous flowers with all of you.

Hope you enjoy the pics.

P.S. Also a pic of one of my NoID Dends that's blooming now.

Alright Sandy! It was worth the hassle and the wait. In my book this is the best Den. ever! My grab and run from the burning house plant hands down!

Terri, I thought of you when I posted these pics. You were very instrumental in my finally getting this one!

Sandy,
I have a plant labelled as Dendrobium atroviolaceum and when it flowers (not a regular bloomer) the flowers look like your pictures but mine always only has one flower on a spike. Folk here have a hybrid (Dendrobium New Guinea) which also looks the same but it has more flowers than mine. Anybody have any ideas? Is mine wrongly labelled? Would not be the first time!

Mike these do not like to dry out at all even in winter. Could be you aren't keeping it moist enough and it can only support one flower at a time? Can you post a pic?
