I did a bad thing

The other day when I was cleaning up a small mess I set my nobile type Dendrobium outside. It was in the upper 50's to the low 60's so I thought there would be no harm. Now had I have not forgot about the plant then I would have been correct but little did I know there would be a hard frost that night. This is my first Dendrobium and my first winter with is so I don't know exactly what to expect but I do know that the soft yellow tissue was firm and dark green before



The damage doesn’t cover the entire cane it is just in large splotches and the lower quarter looks to be unaffected.And now the leaves all have a wrinkled texture to them. Is there any hope to save my Dendrobium?

i think it has hit the sunset trail, neb....you can cut the damaged portion off, dust with cinnamon and pray it comes out with a new growth at the bottom, but i think you pretty well frosted that plant, sorry. dens are sensitive to cold i have found.

If the cane feels all mushy now, there's nothing to do. Freezing temps are unforgiving for such water filled plants. Like dounoharm says you may get a new growth; which would save the plant.

That is what I expected to hear. There is a small cane that is still firm so I know that some of it is still alive.

Neb you may or may not have killed it. Would just wait and see but put the plant where it stays cool and doesnt freeze. I keep some of my nobiles out all winter here in N Florida unless it gets below 28 but a light mist starts at 32 degrees. The same as cymbidiums. God luck - keep your fingers crossed.
