Default My new baby

. I just wanted to update everyone on my collection thus far. So far I have 4 orchids and have only been growing for 3 months!!! My husband will soon go crazy with all the orchids in the house . I can't wait until I have more, maybe a Catt or 2, or 3, or...

So I bought this Dendrobium Eima Queen at Home Depot today. It is not in bloom and I can't wait to see what it does for me, by the looks of the spike, that hasn't been cut yet, it will be a good bloomer. I chose this orchid, because the others seemed to be in very poor shape. I figure if this one can survive the people at HD then it can survive me!! So keep your fingers crossed that I keep this one healthy and happy enough to grow strong and bloom long!! I have inserted of my new baby. Hopefully the next pictures I post of her she will be flowering!!

I looked her up on the internet to see what she will look like and, surprise, surprise, she's gonna be pinkish purple, just like all the others. Oh well, I love her anyway and am now more determined to get different colors and alliances of orchids.

Your question mark photo is what I call a "dud bud". I have a Phal type Den that does that every year it starts a bud at the apex and it never develops. A few months later it pushes a spike out of the side of the cane.

Cool, thanks for answering my question Terri. So maybe I will get a spike in a few months?

I'll try and snap a later and post it so you can see what I'm talking about. The newest growth has the dud bud at the apex, and 2 new spike nubbins growing out of the side.
