Den. kingianum hybrids starting to flower

Camille, I was finally able to get a photo of the whole plant:

It looks great Shannan! It has so many canes crammed into one pot.

And.... there are 11 spikes still to flower! I'm loving it - the scent is heavenly!!

Scent or no scent, this guy is a show stopper...and I mean WOWSER in the best of ways.

I am definitely going to have to find me one...or many...of these guys here in the US. Thanks for sharing with us...and I look forward to pics of your other babies from this cross.

I really love these, and Jerry, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the Australian Dens. They are fantastic plants. Den. tetragonum is another one to look out for... there are some threads here about it. Mine is starting to spike for this year. Last year it was spectacular.

David, they aren't all from the same cross, but they do all have kingianum in them. There is a variety of other species in the mix. The next one that is going to open, I think, is more heavily influenced by speciosum. Even the canes are taller and much, much thicker than the other plants.

PS. Camille, I was told that they like to be pot bound to a certain extent. But you're right, it will need potting on next Spring.

They are lovely, I'm a fan of kingi's. Would you share the cross of the second? I love the picotee edge and intense lip and it is fragrant.

Any one know a US source for similar interesting kingi's? Here are pics of some tiny ones in their 1st bloom last winter.

I have a D. delicatium I aquired a year ago and it now has 12 spikes buds. Outside all summer too, out grew two pots.

Hi & thanks, Karren. This one is very nearly all kingianum. It is Den. kingianum x Den. Kingrose.

These seem to be some of the least fussy plants I've come across. They were literally ignored while they were outside this summer. Fortunately, we had rain every few days which kept them nicely moist while they were growing new canes.
