Spikes or keikis

[Baloney]

Hi all

I've got a NOID dendrobium with five large mature canes, and recently was overjoyed when I saw four little buds developing... and then all four 'buds' developed into keikis instead of flowering spikes!

Could anyone enlighten me perhaps, as to some general cultural/environmental reasons that would induce a den to produce keikis rather than spikes? I want more flowers, haha... don't have enough space for new plants!
