Dendrobium Medy Stripe
Greetings everyone I'm new to this site and hoping someone might be able to resolve my question.
I have a Dendrobium that has a tag on it that says Medy Stripe. I have been unable to find out what culture
this requires. I have other Dendrobiums but can't find anything on culture on this breed.
Thank you

Well, If I "lump" it with the rest that are nobile types, and this in fact is a phal type, I'll have one dead plant.

It's most likely a phal-type Dendrobium. Just lump it with the rest.

I think that Royal Orchids means that you should treat it like all the other Dendrobiums that need no particular rest period, like the phal- types, unlike the nobile/ deciduous types.
I only have nobile types, so somebody else may be able to tell you the culture of your variety

That's exactly what I meant - lump with the rest of the phal-types. I just assumed you had others like it. A winter rest is (in my mind) a special treatment. No special treatment necessary, dry rest or otherwise - that's what I meant.
BUT, remember that was based on a total guess. We can't be sure its a phal dend until someone smarter than me chimes in.

Donald, I have this one (Medy Stripe). It is an old one! I have had this one for at least 8 years. It is very easy to grow for me in south Florida and blooms every year. I will send pics when I get home from work. Where are you? Are you growing outside or in the house?

Good AM. I'm growing in my house and live just west of Boston, MA. I take my orchids out around early May and bring all but the Dendrobiums in about the first of October. They are kept under sunshade cloth. I was taking a very close peek at the Medy Stripe it it looks
like it might be getting three spikes coming out of the tops.
