While the plant is much different, the bloom shape reminds me of my Den. crumenatum, which is also lightly fragrant. How long do these blooms typically last. The ones on my crumenatum last for just one day. They are the shortest lived blooms in my collection.

Ross, I don't know how I missed this thread! What a beauty! I have a Den. moniliforme but I do not know what variety it is, but it is maybe 3 or 4 inches tall. I wasn't sure if it should get a winter rest and didn't read anything that said it should. Around January or maybe late last year it started to put out these node/bud looking things towards the top most leaves, but they never did anything. I hope I will get something soon. It is potted in a fine bark mixture in a clay pot with holes on the side I only water it once a week in fear of over watering it. Some of the leaves are starting to get a blotchy yellow look to them but I figured it was normaly since fall the leaves on the old canes have fallen off. I have it in high light in the orchidarium. I will have to go have a talk with mine to see if I can get it to start blooming...lol. Great job Ross!

I have a yellow flowered variety called Dendrobium moniliforme Kibana Sekkoku...it seems to have been kept very dry as it has lost most all it's leaves already. There are new keiki bulges starting in a couple places. I have increased watering a bit to increase turgidity...I am being careful and letting rain do most of the work. Anyone know this cultivar and have any further suggestions? It is about 8" tall and in sphagnum. The roots are growing and it looks good.

Culture: Transplanted from pure sphagnum to a fine bark mix in a clear, slotted pot. Plant is in my orchidarium and usually kept at 1800+ foot-candles for 12-16 hours a day. 90% humidity for the light-on cycle. Down to approx 75% at night. Moved plant to a lower position while in bloom since tops of canes were against top of tank. Water/fertilizer every second day by application with hand held sprayer till the solution runs out the bottom of pot. Sprayed from time to time with either Thiomyl or Physan 20 for different reasons. Auto misting system runs for 5 seconds every 4-4.5 hours from lights on till lights off. Inside tank is fan running 24/7. A through-wall fan runs for 3-4 hours at night after lights out.

I just received an orchid marked dendrobium monilifomre, and no other name to further identify it. Is this a real variety or am I missing some info?

If this is similar to what you described, can I apply the similar principles to my dendrobium? Unfortunately, I cannot bring up your pictures.
