The species used to be called Dend. wassellii, having terete leaves which are good for water storage.
The plant blooms in late summer or early autumn which is the hottest period of a year here.
It is an easy plant to cultivate and i grow mine mounting on a piece of cork.
Oh Pheli, it seems like you have lots of the same plants as I do - just bigger and happier! You obviously have good taste. I just think that is so neat, I wouldn't know about you if it wasn't for the OrchidBoard!
Any tips for this one? (I got it in a trade from another OB member here in the US - another OB connection! )
Thanks for the kind words!
Hi Royal,
As I mentioned, I grow mine mounting and it is also a good way to cultivate this species because such looking species usually dislike wet roots.
Like most cattleyas, it likes dry winter. And as matter of fact, I grow my plant with my cattleyas. But I seldom give it plant food all year round. Although it comes from far land, it seems grow happy in Taiwan.
