speeding up keiki growth.

i had a dendrobium noid. it died but one cane was totally green but fell off. then, i put the 4 inch cane in a freezer bag just like the sphag n bag method.ina month it sprouted a keiki.then, the keiki grew to abt 1 inch tall and has two ,1 mm roots.
just wanted to ask that does the small 4 inch cane have enough food to support the keiki till it is ready to be potted? and is there any way to speed the keiki ,s growth up?

the keiki should be fine on the cane piece as long as it is still green and slightly plump and not shriveled. Leave it in the bag until it is matured or even growing its next growth before you try to pot it, just to give iit as little stress as possible.

I have a couple of old canes I kept in the hope that keikis would form. I now have two, one about an inch and a half in length and the other looks like a hair.

How long do I want to leave the big keiki on the cane, which is about 18" long? Do I wait for it to grow to a certain size first?

Not so much a certain size. Try to leave it until it has roots of it's own an inch or two long. More is better. At that point you can remove it with a gentle twist and it will have the root structure to support the plant potted up.
