Dendrobium dickasonii

Hi, I ordered a Dendrobium dickasonii from Germany today. It's new to me and therefore I would be happy if you could please share any advice concerning growing it.

Dendrobium dickasonii is very similar to the well known Den.unicum & can be grown the same way.As far as culture goes you may wish to get advice from someone in Finland or the cooler parts of the US. Mine grow outside under shade cloth all year round in Bangkok but the temperatures are in the high 20's to mid 30's all year. They require a rest in the winter as they are deciduous.

Regarding the spelling of Dendrobium lanyaiae. The spelling in the original description is LANyaiae - please refer to "Gunnar Seidenfaden - Contributions to the Orchid Flora of Thailand X111" for the description. The plant was named after Prasong Sukhakul's ( Paph.sukhakulii ) wife. However her name is spelt LAMyaiae but I dont know if there is a correction somewhere. If there is not then LANyaiae stands ( I believe until a correction is made ). BTW this is her Thai "nickname" & refers to the tropical fruit Lamyaiae.

thanks so much for the info , this makes a lot of sense , since there seems to be a rather a large debate often on forums whether den. dickasonii is den.unicum or vice versa
