De. loddigesii Question

I did a search on the site for Den. loddigesii hoping to get some tips for my new 'chid. I saw some awsome examples of mounted and potted ones, but nothing concerning light requirements, etc. Could someone offer suggestions? Regular Den. light, watering and media? I would really like to put this in a small (4") teak basket to accentuate the flowing canes. Good idea or not? I am open for experienced guidance.

Well mine is still small and is not quite flowering size yet but it is growing and has been since I got it. I give mine bright light growing it outside undr 50% shade cloth where it gets full sun until late afternoon early evening.

I receive my Den. Loddigesii Friday and began acclimating it to my growing area. It is supposedly BS and was in a 3" pot with Hydrodon. I don't think it had been i the pot very long. It is now in a 4" teak basket with cut wine corks in the bottom, some sphag and hydrodon around the roots. It will get bright/indirect light for much of the day and about an hour of sun in the afternoon once fully acclimated. I intend to let dry between waterings. I understand that they need to pretty much fill their pot/basket before blooming. True? I hope I can coax this little fellow to bloom next year!

Please advise if I have erred in any way!

All mine get fairly bright conditions (ie. bright Catt/Dend) light. One is mounted and is growing very slowly, one is in a basket with wine corks and a little spag and is growing ok and the last one is a mature sized plant in a basket with large bark chips as media that gets watered every day and is probably growing faster than a Dandilion! I think you did well and should be seeing some blooms this spring or the next.

This one is a rambler so I have mine mounted on a 12" square of tree fern. It gets medium light and heavily misted every day.
