Book-Orchid Species: Dendrobium by Bakers Where to find?
Does anyone know where to get hold of a copy of the Orchid Species book : Vol. 2 Dendrobiums by the Bakers? I have checked every where I can and the only one I have found is selling for over $200.
Thanks

I got my copy Of Orchid Species Culture (Dendrobium) on Amazon a couple of years ago, by putting in a request. I waited a couple of months before they contacted me. I can't remember what I paid, but it was under $100. Before I now consider a Dendrobium purchase I check out the temp requirements listed, as many are cool growing, even in the summer, which we don't have on the Space Coast. Another thing I discovered in this book is many Dendrobium have been renamed, but are still offered under the old name. After I received this book, I realized it was worth more than I paid. The list price originally was $99.95. Also keep checking on Google I believe you will eventually succeed, at a reasonable price. Hope this helps.

Thanks, I will keep checkingl I was outbid on Ebay before Christmas and mad I didn't go a bit higher. I think it went just about $100 for final bid. I just hate to spend that much thinking I ought to be get it cheaper some where else. I didnt' realize the list price was that high, I know the new species books by Baker they are selling are in the $50 plus range
Been busy with Christmas and family things and just now getting back on the board.
Don't know where you are but we had parachuters jumping out of helicopters all today on the beach. I don't think the orchids liked the noise. Deafening.

Thanks Ron, I will check them out.
Yep if we still had a boat you are probably right across the Lagoon. We're in the South Beaches area.
Do you belong to the local orchid group? We've been going to the meetings for the past year but haven't come across any one on the boards from there.

No, I'm not a member of the Brevard Orchid Society, but do attend their great shows. I reject the use of Platinum Coast for our area, which rules out the other club. Orchids only became a passion of mine a few years ago, just before I retired.
I do belong to the Brevard Rare Fruit Club.

Ron and anyone else looking for this book, Discount Book and Music doesn't have either book, even though it's on their website. I also checked with Bamboo Plantation, and their website listed both paperback and hardback, but neither were available. I think I got them to take it off their site. So i am still searching, I refuse to buy it for THE $200 listed on Amazon.
The search continues... Thanks anyway, that is one of the problems with the internet, site's inventories change and they don't get updated, and they are forever there in cyberspace...
