Default Dendrobium moniliforme Hakuunryu in bloom

This was a TC for my Neos from Neww World Orchids. Just opened fully this morning. Nice light fragrance.

That's a 2.5" pot for comparrison. Grown at top of orchidarium (very bright light) at 90% humidity. Watered and fertilized every second day.

Thanks for looking.

Not in spike. In fact the grows with leaves dropped the leaves and several new canes formed. The bud formed atop one of those canes. I removed mine from the moss it was in, then repotted into fine fir bark. Once the pot filled up with roots, the bud formed. I believe this is as big as they get? Where did you get yours?

I purchased mine from Canby Orchids/Clackamus Orchids off of ebay..I know it is probably just a normal variation...I was so excited to see the different variations at NWO...I wanted one so bad but I must behave for a while...lol. Mine looks to be about the same size as yours....it came potted in a fine bark mixture in a clay pot. I have had some cane's loose their leaves and new growths, some of the canes look to have spikes starting, but they have been that way since over the winter...I don't think they will do much...I only water once a week out of fear of over watering...I probably need to water more...I have this at the top of my larger orchidarium.

Ross, that a beautiful plant! an dlooks very very happy too. Are you growing it in the vitrine or outside?

I have the "Mangetsu" which looks like yours but half the size of it (and the flowers should be pink). Not yet in bloom and probably will not do it this year... It is growing in Sphag like the neos, and seems to like it 3 new tiny canes are growing now. I am also waiting for a 'Manazuru' to come in September/October...

Great one, Ross. I love these little Dens. How long did it take from bud to open flower?

First noticed the bud after it was maybe 5mm long, so allow for that. That was approx 3-4 weeks ago. Pretty fast developer, I'd say. I plan to check tonight after lights out to see if it is stronger at night.
