Thanks for the . My guess was that the anosmums that bloom later in the season (early summer, like yours) might be rhodopterigium, a species that is often quoted as being a synonym of parishii. However, parishii and rhodopterigium have thicker, shorter canes. Yours look more thin, like an anosmum, which blows my whole theory to peices!! Oh well, thanks again for the pics!

Steve, it is said that this clone is from Vietnam and well known for its larger flowers and two attractive large eyes.
People here also like such clones and hence now a lot of seedlings are available.
The species is widespread in southeastern Asia and there are quite many varieties.
Here is a Taiwanese webpage, showing some of them.
Dendrobium anosmum

Where did you get your plant from. I have one with a more rounded flower but it refuses to bloom. It has two and a half foot canes but no flowers in two years.

I bought this plant from a local orchid nursery.
The species needs a lot of sunexposure to bloom but there are still one or two clones that notorous for their blooming abilities.

Your excellent pic pheli, is of one of my favorite orchids. Does the sweet scent kind of remind you of rasberries?

Pheli, the original anosmum is from Viet Nam as well as the Philippines, Borneo, Thailand, and New Guinea. It has the same "eyes" however they blend into the background color. Yours is very distinctive. I really like it a lot.

Beautiful color and very late blooming for Den. anosmum. Den. anosmum is called Honohono in Hawaii. They generally bloom February through April, peaking in March. They are very easy to multiply and grow. Most of the flowers are very fragrant especially the lavender ones. pheli: Can you share how many flowers were on the stem and how long the stem was? Thanks.
