No, not small...at least not for long.....
That's a 6" pot. This is a pic of mine from Summer 2012...I can't find this past Summer's (for some strange reason). It's even bigger now. Grows like a weed...easy, reliable bloomer...but you do need space for it once it gets going. It usually starts blooming late May...has a big flush in June typically and then continues to push out flowers all Summer long but on a smaller scale. Even now, it's October and mine is still kicking out flowers...just a few.
Nancy - yours is beautiful.
EDIT - per request from Parasocks, I have uploaded pics of Den hercoglossum. These are the pics from 2012...it is MUCH, MUCH bigger now but I don't have any recent pics. I can take some if anyone is interested. It's just starting to spike so it'll be a few/several weeks before it's in full bloom. None of the flowers last for very long but it makes a lot of them and over a very long period of time...2-3 months with lots of flowers and then much smaller flushes for another 2 months or so. Last summer, I still had a few blooms when the plants were brought back inside in October. A very long bloomer.
It's now in a 12" hanging basket and would probably be in a bigger pot had it not been attacked by squirrels a couple of years ago and lost a large number of it's growths. Silly squirrels just wouldn't leave it alone...they kept chewing off entire canes. I would've been more understanding if they were eating it but noooo, they were just chewing off the canes and dropping them on the ground. They did the same thing and all but destroyed an epiphyllum.
