Bec, I'm not sure how often you are watering that poor thing, but in bark in summer I'm watering my atroviolaceum 2-3 times a week, and it's still drying out too fast. I have found that some of my plants that really suck up the water in summer really appreciate a 30 minute soak in a bowl of water.

Thanks Terri! I think you are correct, it needs to be watered more often.....I shouldn't have taken it out of the s/h....I just nead to leave things alone when I should. I will try watering it more and see if it helps.

That also helps me a bit since it is potted in some charcoal and wood chips and dries out very fast! I will make sure to water more often or try to change to S/H if I can just find some darn pots around here!

You can make your own pots, just get some containers from the deli counter at your local store, make two holes about and inch up from the bottom, similar to the picture I showed you in another thread, and wallah!

I've been trying to find pots large enough, but here in Europe everything is much smaller! I have to keep looking around and be creative. Who would've thought it would be so hard to find one of those containers here. I will try the hobby store.

I got the same problem when i converted into S/H, but in the end i just bought some outher-pots instead. Then i use the regulare clear plastic pots to put the leca and chid in, and filled the outher pot with water.
Works fine!

Back on topic with the Dend, I just noticed that one of the two new growths has rotted! I guess I should've been more careful with the watering and strictly watered from the bottom up. New lesson learned.
Oh and also the flower opened up more but is still a bit yellow. I will post pics if I get a chance....
I am thinking of switching this to S/H too...any opinions?

Hi! Well I hate to say this, but this this thread is about a year and a half old...I couldn't tell you what size that pot was....I lost that poor little 'chid! It didn't stand a chance with me...lol. So for now I just continue to keep my eye out for another one. I would love to get my hands on another seedling like it. But now that you mention the pot size....it does look a little big for the size of the seedling....if only I new then what I knew now! Guess that is part of the learning process! Thank you for the inquiry!
