Dendrobium Discolor 'Oakhill' Information
Default Dendrobium Discolor 'Oakhill' Information

Hello all,

First post, long-time creeper. I recently picked up a Den. Discolor 'Oakhill' (or at least that is what the tag says), but I can't find anything on the internet regarding this cultivar. I have researched the species, and the physical structure of the plant matches, but the pseudobulbs on my plant are in the 10-13 inch range (approximately), nowhere near as large as what I have found the species is supposed to get to.

The plant seems healthy, with about 20 pseudobulbs and active new growths. Does anyone happen to have some cultural information for this cultivar or any information that might shed some light?

Thanks,
Wes

Welcome. I don't know that cultivar. Care will be the same as and Den. discolor: warm to hot, bright and moist all year. It will probably grow to be very large.

Maybe it came from Oak Hill Gardens or was named in honor of Oak Hill Gardens, an orchid vendor that was once in the Chicago, Ill. area run by a couple who wanted very badly to retire (was then bought by someone else and moved to Wisconsin...then closed). It was a great place to buy unusual orchids, many quite young and cheap.
