Dendrobium stratiotes? Or not Male
Default Dendrobium stratiotes? Or not

Hi all,

I'm wondering if you can help me a bit, I have bought this dendrobium last year as a single cane and yes it's growing absolutely amazing and it was labelled as dendrobium stratiotes, and initially I thought yup that's it but recently I have been looking online and all images I can see are of quite big tall plants while mine is barely 15 inches tall.

I never seen anything about dendrobium stratiotes having a compact form.

It's a young plant. Each new growth should be larger.

Agreed, ^^^

Orchids are not full size when they start blooming. Your plant looks like it has many years of maturing to do before it reaches full size.

It can also be a cultural thing. Plants that get higher light tend to grow a little more compact.
