White Dendrobium

Joining the Dendrobium club. I posted in identification. I'm not sure what exactly this is. Was told its native to Costa Rica. I think its an album. I also think it just has sum sunburn was going to post in pests diseases also

I was rough with this plant getting it home yesterday and was caught in the rain plus an overcrowded bus ride. Looks great to me besides the burn! I will post and read about pollinating. For now I guess its an unidentified hybrid. I think there's new growth and flowers. I think I had a green lantern in the past beautiful cross white bright orange red lip black hairs. Did great with it. I'm not sure when I should repot this plant for now I'm leaving it be. Media is still damp going to let it dry out a bit before I water. Planning on once a week fertilizing at 50% every fourth week just water.

The time to repot Dendrobiums is when they just begin making new roots. Dendrobiums make new roots as new growths are forming. There are many different kinds of Dens. with different growth patterns. The Den. phal. types want to stay evenly moist through the year without drying completely. If the medium isn't beginning to crumble and decompose you won't need to repot yet. Den. phals. expand slowly sideways so they usually won't outgrow the pot before the medium breaks down.

Dendrobiums also thrive on being absolutely pot-bound. They can go for years in the same pot and be very happy.

What is to be observed from this, I have learned, is they want a very course and minimal media that drains almost immediately with little to no interference (re-potting) of the roots. They need air
and are "homebodies". This is particularly true of the hard cane variety.
