Dont give up -or- Orchid teach patience
So, i'll not bore you with all the ways this was my fault, there were many, but this was one of the first 10/20 orchids i got about 8-10 years ago when i started to care more about orchids than just the handful of ancient phals i had inherited
i saw this flower ( somewhere there was the first schomburgkia too) and it blew my mind-
i got a bag baby and was ready for my orchid show.....
.....
years
years
years
and then

so, it might come in spike or you might have to wait a decade, they are all worth it

Oh yes!
When I experienced my greenhouse heater failure, wiping out a 20+ year collection, a few folks gave me plants to rekindle the interest after the loss. One was a Dendrobium speciosum. It was about 3" tall in a 2" pot.
In all honesty, I am not particularly a fan of dendrobiums, but I gave very minimal care to it, but some 14 years later it bloomed with a couple of 36" spikes on 18"-24" canes.
It turned out to be v. hillii, was too big for me, so now it and its dozen or more divisions reside with another grower in Aiken SC.

Both are stunning plants!
Maybe this is the reason my favorite quote is:
Adopt the pace of nature; her secret is patience. (R.W. Emerson)

I'm happy that yours bloomed! My bag baby Den spectabile took forever too. Now it blooms every year.
