Default Dendrobium Losing Leaves, but has new growth

I've had this somkiat blue for 5 months and it's starting to lose leaves, but also has new growth. The canes are firm, and I water every 3 days. Is this normal or should I move to more intense sun? Thanks for any advice.

I’m certainly no expect so I am prepared to stand corrected but this looks like a healthy plant to me!

The yellowing leaves look like the oldest cane coming to the end of its productive life. Mine has just done the same thing on an old cane but has also produced three new canes (one of which is currently in bloom)since I bought it around nine months ago.

Not sure if the,s a nobile type den but they lose leaves in coller season. If it has new growths, keep watering.

It's natural for plants to loose leaves on their older growths. As long as that new growth is looking healthy I think you should be ok. If the plant starts loosing ALL its old leaves you may have a problem.

This is a Den. phal. hybrid. Older growths eventually lose leaves like this. However, in excellent conditions, leaves can stay on the plant for 4-5 years. They prefer being warm and moist all year.

I would water by looking at the plant and potting medium, not by the calendar.
