Hello, so, I know that dendrobiums usually grow from little small sheaths on the side of the canes. Correct me if I'm wrong. I had a sheath, then uhh, a little child not to be named, peeled it. At the same time, it also had what is in the picture but smaller. I'm pretty sure this is probably very normal and common but I don't really know what that green thing is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My own children killed countless favorite orchids when they were young. Sigh. We also find the dogs seem to really like them, too. I cannot really tell from the picture what you mean by green thing but if it is smaller, it might be a spike. Hopefully, though, it will put out another new growth. Good luck!

Haha yes. My bird likes to eat orchid flowers and my friend's cats consistently take bites out of the leaves too. Orchids must be delicious or some.
But I meant this growth. It kind of just popped out of nowhere. I circled it now.

Looks like your circled growth is an old bulb. You won't get much activity from that. The new growth will will come from the base of the largest cane. The sheaths are dry and dead so it should be just fine that it got removed. Lots of people peel them off

Huh! That is so weird. I could've sworn that the old bulb popped out from...nowhere. Maybe it was buried. But the sheath I was talking about earlier that got peeled WAS the future new cane. I just hope that the setback won't be that bad.
