just some buds are drying up. the smaller ones just cant get enough water up thru the canes. The flowers make little roots and why they last so long ..Its been really dry.. plants ok.

Well they wont take 100+ heat. I took them in after the buds all dried up and left the canes desiccated.

They are coming back now and have one fresh bud

Im glad it seems they might forgive me..

Yeah, I'm not sure if mine are gonna make it either. My buds never opened (fully inflated), and the plant defoliated mostly....we shall see.
I had it in a warm laundry room (some AC)...not enough I guess.

Yeah, it's been a hellaciously hot summer. Most of my orchids love heat, but not frying pan heat. Anything from 100F up is just asking for trouble.

I noticed on my cuthbersonii hybrid that heat and high temps slow down all processes: spike growth, buds number, flowers opening, growth and new cane development. This year I kept temps down and buds open quickly, colors of the blooms are more vibrant and new canes look healthier.

Wish quick recovery to your plants that suffered setback this year.

I put them in sphagnum, in a sunny window inside. Only just let them dry out. The canes are starting to sprout kiekis.

I will be happy now with 1 flower

there is life on those dead looking canes.
I am so glad to see these come back. They looked done. Dont give up on the dendrobiums.
