Black spot on Dendrobium cane
Default Black spot on Dendrobium cane

Hi All, I noticed rather large black spot on one of my Dendrobium anosmum cane. Is there anything I need to do about it? Is it a problem at all?

That happens sometimes on older Dendrobium canes. If it doesn't spread much I wouldn't worry.

You have a nice new growth. Be sure you don't let it dry out while that growth is maturing. Now would also be the time to start fertilizing. The medium looks fine for now. New roots have just begun. If it needed repotting, now would be the time to do it.

Thank you for your advice regarding fertilizing. With anosmum I am so uncertain. Just started learning and observing this orchid. I hope to keep this plant in the same pot/medium this year. I just obtained this orchid and medium seems fine, it does not seem smelly or decaying. Thank you for helping me to learn how to identify proper time for repotting. I will definitely keep it in mind for the next repotting. Thank you again!
