here two den latouria from sun bulb and originally from H&R in Hawaii. Both in net pots secured with soaked bamboo skewers through a burnt hole made with torch heated rhizome clip and this process locks the plant in solidly. Plant rhizome should be at level with edge of pot or slightly higher and the skewers have some flex in them. once the plants are rooted in, the skewers can be removed or left to decompose on their own. the net pots will allow water to drain through and lots of air to the roots, plus the little net pots are filled with controlled release florikan 6 mounth fertilizer pellets, good stuff that has been working great for me.

This is a perfect example of how different techniques are needed in different growing conditions. I have much lower humidity than does Florida. A plant potted like this would dry out in a few hours here in summer.

Adapting our orchid culture to local climate requires trying various materials and adjustments. In south FLA I had 2 shadehouses and rain protection, in North I have no rain and cold protection so... I adapted to withstand the worst case scenarios. Potted plants are in net pots or baskets and 45 degrees is my threshold to bring my plants into garage for usually no more than a couple days
and then back out. The next biggest change is adding the little fertilizer net pots with florikan 6 month fertilizer. That has made a very noticeable improvement fr my plants. 3 inch pots get one, 4/5/6 inch pots get more depending on type of plant. It provides a consistent trickle down feeding that plants respond to. florikan is same fertilizer used in 'Dynamite' plastic tubes sold a HD/Lowes
