Phal. type Dendrobium question regarding bloom Male
Default Phal. type Dendrobium question regarding bloom

Is it normal for a Phalaeonopsis type Dendrobium to rebloom from a previously bloomed growth? I knew I had a spike forming on the latest growth, but while watering today spotted another that had grown from an older, previously bloomed cane. Any input appreciated.

Yes, there is one meristem below each leaf. Unbloomed meristems can flower years after the stem forms.

Thanks, ES. Yes, that's exactly where it's coming from, and that growth is one that was in bloom when I bought the plant 3-4yrs. ago.
