Dendrobium victoria reginae - only leafless canes?
Default Dendrobium victoria reginae - only leafless canes?

I just got a Dendrobium victoria reginae which was on my all-time-favorite list for years! Huzzah!

My concern is that it arrived with no active growths just two bare canes. I know they are semi-deciduous but I thought there should be at least one cane with green leaves. The two canes seemed pretty shriveled at least in comparison to my Dendrobium glomeratum but they're different sections so I'm not sure. Gave it a good flush and I guess we'll see. Hope it's okay.

Should I contact the seller or just chill out?

Is there green under the dry sheaths? The deciduous dendrobiums can look pretty scrawny sometimes...

If it's at all green I'd chill and wait. If not I would get in touch with the grower and see what's up.

I checked and both canes are brown and dry underneath the sheaths. *heavy sigh*

Doesn't look good. Contact the seller, you need a refund to that you can buy a LIVE one. It's a wonderful species.

Thanks, I did. This is one that I've been wanting for many, many years so just a bit disappointing.

If you want a healthy, established plant, check out Andy's Orchids. I don't see it on the website but that doesn't mean anything... the website only has about 10-15% of what Andy actually has. Send an email and ask. (It will likely be mounted, if you don't want to grow that way, these are pretty easy to unmount)

Sweet! I love Andy’s, I just assumed that their out of stock message meant they were really out of stock. I’ll message them to see if they have one.
