Good idea. Little slugs become big slugs when they have a nice plant to munch on. If the Den isn't showing growth (likely case this time of year) try not to disturb roots when you're changing the medium... if there is some stuck to roots (likely) just give a good bath under the faucet to wash off whatever might be living there, but don't try to clean it all off. the roots.

Thanks for the tips! I do see little green canes so it might still be growing, I’ll check for terminal leaves on the canes. We’re still getting weather in the 90’s so it will be awhile until we start getting cool (SF Bay Area). Regardless I’ll try to minimize messing with the roots as mush as possible.

Also note that this species doesn't particularly like to dry out, even if it loses some leaves. If it gets chilly, then maybe cut back water a little, but not too severely. Also, it does like good water Depending on what part of the SF Bay area you're in, mostly not a problem. (Mine did better when I switched it to RO, but southern Californai water is not wonderful.)

My water isn’t as hard as San Jose water but I also have access to lab quality water that I bring home when it “expires”. So use that on weekends when I water with MSU fertilizer or some kelpak type stuff.

Update for you guys on my Dendrobium victoria-reginae and the Neofinetia. Both have grown quite a bit and are both blooming (in fact this is the third blooming on Vicky since around Thanksgiving)! Yay! I got the keiki on Vicky to grow pretty long roots and then separated it and it's growing great. The neo had a hellacious case of mealybugs which I have under control with IPA and q-tips, but I need to spray my orchids with a systemic at some point. I have the spray just waiting for stuff to stop blooming, being lazy, etc.

I'm a new fan of the ''queen"and got 1 last wk. Put her in a net pot with sphag. moss and since I've read that cooler temps will produce "bluer" blooms she hangs in a breezy and somewhat cooler window. Yours look great.
