Default Den Green Flash

This is a first bloom and I was a bit surprised that it bloomed this year.

This plant has unfortunately struggled early in life. When I received it of off ebay, the roots were a rotten mess. I helped it recover, then I placed it in too much sun too quickly and burnt it, while also over watering and rotting the new roots. I got it into a good mix of media and pot now in a much shadier spot in the yard and was rewarded with a bloom!

It has four or five new shoots as well. So it seems happy now.

I love the contrasting purple lip!

after all the work one flower is all you ever need to justify it. ..

sometimes even one fresh new green root is all it takes..

Default burning sun

I too had a couple of plants receive damage to leaves from the sun. Chiang Mai is a great area to grow orchids (extremely high humidity all the time) but it is very hot now, with the sun being so intense. I had to move my entire orchid display back about 5 feet so that from noon on it was under the overhead roof cover protection of our home. Now I think my orchids are in a perfect outside environment with bright dappled sun through the morning and in shade from noon on and in humid air conditions. It was an all day job moving them.

Your den. bloom is wonderful! Congrats!
