Hi, about 3 weeks ago I got a Dendrobium Nobile from a local nursery that seemed to have just finished blooming since I could tell that the leftover flower stalks were still pretty fresh.
When I had gotten the orchid, it seemed to have what seemed to be a new growth. From what I've read online, new growths usually during the spring, after the dendrobium has finished flowering so it seemed a bit odd to me that there was a new growth. I have not watered it much since I've also read that I should wait until it gets a bit warmer since it was still getting to the mid 40s at night to mid 60s in the day here. Over the last 3 weeks I've perhaps lightly misted the roots/canes about 4 times and flushed water through the bark for 2-3 seconds once.
Today I noticed that one of the lower leaves in one of the mature canes had started yellowing, which seems pretty normal, but I also noticed that the bottom leaf of the new growth has started yellowing. Is this normal? Or does it mean I should start watering the orchid more? I also noticed that there is a slightly dark shade at the side of the new growth which worries me about it being infected/rotting.
Weirdly enough, I also noticed that a small nub has appeared in one of the older canes, which could be either a keiki or a flower bud. I also see what seems to be yet another new growth at the bottom of one of the canes.
It seems that this orchid has a bit of everything so it is confusing me a little bit on what to do.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
