Dendrobium spectabile yellow/discoloration on leaves

Hi everyone,

I just got this Dend spectabile I think 2 weeks ago, it looked okay once it arrived and I figured the yellowing bits were just the plant stressing out from the courier. But the way it's so discolored on one of the leaves has me a bit concerned. There's also a yellow spot on the biggest pseudobulb's leaves too, it's still growing healthy roots so I'm just looking for some advice on what to do from here.

I've been growing it in my display cabinet with fans and a humidifer ontop of a heat mat to keep it warm. Since it's nearly summer, the temps are usually pretty warm, around mid 20c during the days and drop to around high 10 low 20c at night.


From the culture notes I read I was initially under the impression that I had to let it dry out before watering again. But going over them again, I think I wasn't supposed to let them completely dry out as opposed to slightly. My bad!

Your temperatures are cool for this orchid. It will often tolerate them for a while. The yellowing can be a sign of being too cool. It is happier from the upper 20s into mid 30s, with humidity. It does prefer being moist all year.

Darn it, well it looks like I'll have to make some adjustments then!
