Dendrobium Nobile Type - received as present

everybody,
I am so exited!
A very dear friend of mine surprised me yesterday with a thank you gift for taking care of her cat for a week.
She brought a Nobile type dendrobium NOID for me!

I attached some pictures.

My questions would be:
Does this kind of Dendrobium bloom only on new canes or also on the old ones?
My second question is, will it drop it's leafs when it goes through it's growing seasons?
I am not sure if it will be possible to tell by just looking at pictures.


Unfortunately I don't know anything about this type of Dendrobium.
I am hoping that several of you could give some input on it's care to raise it's chances of a happy survival.
