Dendrobium nobile black pseudobulbs & flowers dying
Hello! First post -help!
I purchased this Dendrobium Love Memory 'Fizz' about 4 days ago whilte it was in bloom. I noticed that a pseudobulb had some black on it when I received it in the mail and thought nothing of it. The blooms opened 2 1/2 weeks ago and were beautiful but now the last handful of days they are withering and dying. Some still look fine -not withering, but those are also off another pseudobulb. It appears I have 2 where the flowers are not deteriorating. The largest pseudobulb has flowers withering and to me, it looks fine? I'm watering every week and fertilizing 3/4 weeks. It seems as thought the black spots are spreading but not with any rhyme or reason.

Welcome to the Orchid Board!
I'm unclear on your timing. When did it arrive? Have you had it 4 days, or longer? You said you're watering once a week, but you said it arrived 4 days ago.
Did it arrive bare-root, in that pot with that medium, or have you repotted it since it arrived?
What are your day/night temperatures and humidity? What kind of light is it getting? When you water, how are you watering it? How do you decide when to water? Is the medium still moist when you water, or has it dried out?

I'm so sorry about the confusion. I should have reread through my post. I purchased the dendrobium about 6 weeks ago. The flowers started to open about 2 1/2 weeks ago. In the last 4 days the flowers have started to wither and die.

I posted an update below. Sorry for the confusion! To answer your other responses.... It arrived in a pot with the medium it has now. I am unsure on humidity but night temps are around 68 and day temps are around 72. When I water it I set the pot in a larger pot so the water is just under the rim. I keep it in there for about 20-30 minutes. To decide when to water I stick my finger in the medium and if the top half-ish is dry I water.

Oh! 2 1/2 weeks is not unusual for Dendrobium nobile flowers.
The stems on your plant are very wrinkled and dessicated. I don't let mine get that dried out. The person you bought it from probably hardly watered all winter.
Use Advanced Search in the top menu. Look on key word Yamamoto and my partial username Estaci to find links to growing information from Yamamoto Dendrobiums, which used to operate in the US.

Thank you! When I purchased it the grower said it should be in flower until fall.. clearly that was wrong. I will do your search suggestions. Any other suggestions? Any clue on the black?

The Yamamoto instructions are comprehensive and excellent.
They flower in the spring, triggered by cool winter night temperatures. They can be brought into bloom at any time of the year if you give them 6 weeks of nights below 55 F / 12C.
It doesn't look too bad. It will begin making new growth from the base soon. When it starts, don't let it dry out. The new roots are very important. Old Den roots don't function nearly as well as new roots. Also begin fertilizing regularly; stop fertilizer no later than mid August. Keep watering all summer. In winter, water enough the leaves don't drop. Canes should remain fat and mostly wrinkle-free, not looking like the ones you see now.
