Deciphering Dend Joo tag?
Default Deciphering Dend Joo tag?

I got a bunch of orchids from a collector who is leaving town. I am trying to figure out their needs, in terms of growing conditions.

One tag I cannot quite decipher, but I know it is a dendrobium, which is why I am posting here.
The tags reads something like:
Dend Joo Fukumusume x komachimuso(and then the rest of the tag is broken off!). I was told it blooms on old leafless canes. Can you give me the correct name, and other info ( ie amt of light, amount of water, and temps)
that would make it happy?
thanks, Susan

As per the RHS registry -
I found
Den. Fukumusume = Den. Niitaka X Den. Sagimusume
Registrant and Originator - Ohnishi
Registered - 12/17/1979

Den. Komachimusume = Den. Aoyama X Den. Nagasaki
Registrant and Originator - Karasawa

Dorothy, thanks so much.
That looks like it.
What does the Dend Joo mean, do you think?
Now that it's "named", how do I figure out its culture requirements?

Dend is probably their abbreviation for Dendrobium ..
I am not sure what Joo means ..
There were a few entries in the RHS registry under Joo but they didn't correspond to Fukumusume
Since I don't grow dendrobiums, I can direct you to the basic care sheets the OB provides until others respond
http://www.orchidboard.com/Dendrobiu...ure-Care-Sheet
and this thread which discusses the different dendrobium groups - http://www.orchidboard.com/community...endrobium.html

I read about the six groups of dendrobiums. How do I know which group the above-mentioned dendrobium is in? And how about the other dendrobiums I recently acquired?
