Dendrobium Unicum
Default Dendrobium Unicum

Definitely my favorite plant (at this precise moment, subject to change at a whim) Dendrobium Unicum

I heard the fragrance described a tangerines and freshly sharpened crayons which is dead on to my nose

very nice! I'm a bit leery of the deciduous Dendrobiums but the scent might be too interesting to pass up.

Picked up one of these today, though was a little surprised by the size! It's in spike, didn't count how many but it's got a lot of potential flowers. Main cane is about 20" (51cm) long. No idea how to handle it going forward if the next new growth is bigger. Everything I read said this is a compact plant!

I don't think you got Dendrobium Unicum. Where did you get it? My longest cane is 4"

Got it from Orchids Limited, it'll be a waiting game for the blooms to open and see what I've got! I know the unicum has unique flowers so it should be pretty apparent.

Orchids Limited is top notch. Maybe email them and ask them about it. Everything I read also says this plant is miniature.

Just took a look at mine... the newest cane is about 16 inches... bare, getting ready to bloom. It's definitely Den. unicum. So it's not all THAT mini, though it is still a modest-sized plant. If you want orange flowers on a really small on, take a look at Den. dickasonii ... more like 2-3 inch canes.

I wonder if it stays small mounted? My current cane that is in bloom is only 3-4". Really cool that it can bloom so small. I would be happy to have a 20" cane of Unicum, my little cane in bloom can fragrance the whole grow room, a 16-20" can could fragrance the whole house
