Anyone know which variety of Dendrobium is the one we eat?

It seems to me like every time there's a cut-flower orchid bouquet at a wedding, or a flower garnishing my plate, it's always the same variety. This has got to be the single most commercially produced Dendrobium out there.. I'm so curious what it is!

This is the so-called Phalaenopsis-type Dendrobium (It has nothing to do with Phalaenopsis except appearance, if you have a really good imagination) They're easy to grow under warm conditions, most I think are imported from Thailand or that general part of the world. They are also long-lasting as cut flowers. Many similar-looking hybrids, most probably not even named.

Like pansies , marigolds, rose petals, nasturtiums etc. They are edible.

Maybe not supposed to eat, but if used as garnish, it had to be edible.

Definitely a DenPhal! For sure. I was actually wondering which hybrid or cultivar, sorry for the confusion. I think I've actually narrowed this one down! It looks like most cut-flower denphals are imported from Thailand, of which Den. Sonia 17 is a popular BOM (Bangkok Orchid Mericlone) type. Neat!

I doubt very much that you could narrow it to a particular hybrid, much less cultivar. I have been getting these "garnishes" on plates and in drinks since the first time I went to Hawaii... more than 50 years ago.
