Phantasm...that is very interesting! I thought at first it must have something to do with one of the canes being staked later than should've been. But the blooms on all of the canes are facing in everywhichway. Cool.

Very, very, interesting indeed. I have a louzy dictionary so I am not sure what "resupinate" means but the one I saw, all the canes were hanging over the edge of the pot and I didn't particularally notice the position of the flowers.  |

Resupinate is the normal state of affairs for orchids with the lip in the lowest position. Non-resupinate is the position of the lip at the top. In many orchid flowers the flower is presented on a twisted pedicel in a 180 degree turn and they can be twisted 360 degrees in a non-resupinate flower. Of course in orchids there are exceptions to all of the rules.

Mine is blooming too! (and the best part is I bought it as a nbs plant last year so I can take the credit too) I LOVE THIS PLANT! the show is really amazing - and I'm growing it in a bathroom window w/ no special anything! How do you grow yours?

I purchased mine from J&L but they don't have them on their website any longer.... might try contacting them to see if they still have some.

audrey...beautiful bloom! nice photo too. i think you really captured the coloring. yeah, i'm not doing anything in particular with mine...he's with my other orchids, gets humidifier, fan and a southern window 4ft away. but, like i said, i've really only had him for a few weeks.
don...while i picked mine up at the NY Botanic Gardens during their Orchid Show last month, according to the tag, the plant originated from Parkside Nurseries...

Mine gets much less "special" treatment than that! It's in a south facing bathroom window - VERY close to the window, maybe 6-12 inches. I water it every few days, mist it most others, and it gets the humidity from the shower. Other than that, nothing special. It's put up 4 new growths since I've had it and now has 3 open flowers plus about 8 or so buds in various stages. It's been a very easy plant to grow overall! seems to LOVE the high light it's getting.
