Dendrobium spectabile Flower Nodes? Female
Default Dendrobium spectabile Flower Nodes?

Hi,

I've had this Dendrobium spectabile for about 2 years. Got as a bag baby. The newest cane is the biggest yet! It's about 10 inches tall.

I think I spy some possible nodes for flower spikes to appear. What do you all think?

Thanks!

Hard to tell but you won’t have to guess when they arrive. Ten inches is plenty big to flower. How much light does it get?

All day in a southern window. So lots She took off after putting her in semi-hydro. Totally loving all the moisture. I tried to attach a better pic.

The light colored ovals beneath the leaves could become flowering nodes. Or could do nothing if the plant is not old enough. Mine got 4 blooms on a 6-inch tall cane, then did nothing for 3 years until I got 18-inch canes.

This.

Mine is starting to spike for the first time now and the newest growths are right around 17” and 19”. But the shorter, older canes that would not bloom before are pushing spikes as well. The whole plant just needed some more time. Edew, even if it doesn’t bloom this year or the next, it can still bloom off of those growths eventually

I think Mr. Harry from H&R made a post about the sizes of these, when typical blooming size was, and how the breeding. I’ll try to find it

Mine was much larger when it pushed it's first spikes. Maybe two feet plus w/o the pot. The buds will swell and you'll know for sure. Those may be latent buds, but flowering probably isn't imminent.
