It's still rootless.

The bottom few nodes are swelled up and I'm hoping that it may form keikis. The psuedobulbs are pretty shriveled up and now it's trying to bloom so... maybe it's using up its remaining reserves and wither after this.

yikes! are you planning on letting it bloom or cut the spike to let it conserve some energy to produce keikis? you still have the mother plant, I guess, and it's not like there's no hope for keikis if you let it flower...

I grow Den miyakei in a basket hanging on my patio. At the time I got it (around 7 years ago) Andy told me it would grow outside where I live even though the tag says "I/W". (He tries things at the nursery, but doesn't usually change what is in the computer. One of the fun things to do when visiting the nursery is to see where things are ACTUALLY growing) Canes are only about 12 inches at best, become pendulous as they mature, (but bloom for multiple years, several times a year) So it is very possible that if I grew it warmer it would get bigger. Still, it puts out growth, blooms beautifully, and I have a lot more room outside. If it is the same species, my suspicion is that it came from a higher-elevation population than the "true" goldschmidianum.
