This was my second orchid that I ever bought, some six years ago. I was thinking of letting this one go but then it decided to flower this year. I guess threatening your plant really works... hah.

I'm not sure if it's significant but it flowered on one of the oldest p-bulbs. I hope my clone doesn't take six years per p-bulb to mature! Anyway, I'm very glad that it flowered.

Mine had 1 spike with over 20 blooms. Now it has 2 new growths and a keiki..... which I thought was another spike but no luck. At least I know how to treat it to get it to spike. ( Not good. Ha. )

Nice. That's a healthy looking plant. There is a reason they are called Dendrobium aggravatum. I killed mine this winter, but I have a baby still alive. Too much cold, I think, for my parent plant.

Congrats on yours too - 20 blooms must have been spectacular. Haha, well I think many of us spoil our plants too much. I had a lot going on this winter/spring and my neglect seems to have been in my favor...

I'm sorry about your plant! Mine seems to be okay to the mid 50s but it's struggled in previous winters. Hope your baby plant thrives.

Very nice. I am still trying too figure out what makes this one tick. Mine grows great but, Lordy, people weren’t lying when they said this one can be a frustrating species to bloom.

The only thing that was different this year is that I was not around to water it for most of January. I asked a friend to water it once a week (no idea if he did) but I resumed watering three times a week in Feb. Started to spike in early April.

Lovely. I had a jenkinsii sev. yrs back. Small corked plant that of course had blooms at the time at purchase. This thing gave me fits and sapped all my patience and determination and has not been added again to my humble collection. So good 4 U!

You've done well with this one Jeff.

I tried growing this one indoors for many years in Alaska.
It grew nicely, but I could never get it to bloom.
I now grow it in my yard and it blooms every year.
In fact, it has just finished blooming in spite of the effects from the eruption, no pics though.

Congrats! Mine bloom most years, but only if I get the rest period timing right. Starting late fall I won't water it at all, only when the bulbs really start to shrivel. They always flower on freshly grown bulbs. If you have a bunch of new bulbs that didn't flower this year, next year will be all the bloomier!
