Default Paphiopedilum wardii - dry dead exposed root tip

Hello everyone,

New to posting here, although the information found in these forums have guided me for years.

I recently acquired a Paph Wardii about a month-ish ago. It was horribly potted and not in bloom when I got it so I gave it a new home. The top-most root was completely exposed and curling around, and seemed like it was kept dry. The very tip of the root was dry enough to just slowly be dying off, making the dead section longer. The plant seems to be doing quite well with two new growths and two new leaves at the top.
Once the dry dead section got about 1/2” long I decided to cut it. (That section only was getting some fine white fuzz mold on it, but nowhere else on the plant.)

My question is, should I do anything with the newly cut root tip to help it from rotting/drying or happening again? I don’t have access to Physan or commercial fungicide. I wish I took pics of the root before I cut it but I was trigger happy. I do have pics of the front and back of the plant and tried to get a closeup of the root in question. After preview the system put my photos sideways, but you should get the idea.

Thanks for anyone’s insight!

Let it dry out for a day or two before repotting. That’s all.

You should check out Forestview Gardens. They are located here in BC. Although I suspect it’s kind of cold to be shipping at this point. At the very least have a look at their catalogue
