Good question. I've not bloomed P. emersonii (yet) and I haven't been close enough to one in bloom at the right time of day to smell, so I'm not certain. However, depending on the nose, P. emersonii's scent is described as floral, musky, and/or chocolatey.
I suspect different people pick on on the notes differently and there's possibly even a bit of variation in the scent between clones/populations. The same is true for P. delenatii. For instance, to me delenatii smells similar to southern magnolias when you catch a whiff from a distance, but some folks describe it as citrusy, where as others describe it as rose like.
